CHELSEA LEWIS-BAHR
BIO
Chelsea Lewis-Bahr is a contemporary abstract artist whose work explores transformation, transition, and the inner landscapes that emerge between one state of being and the next. Working through abstraction, layered surfaces, texture, and intuitive mark-making, she creates atmospheric compositions that examine uncertainty, release, awakening, and becoming.
Her practice is rooted in intuition and continual experimentation. Rather than presenting fixed narratives, Lewis-Bahr creates spaces for contemplation—allowing viewers to encounter the work through the lens of their own experiences, emotions, and interpretations. Recurring elements of darkness, light, movement, and expansive forms reflect the tension between what is known, what is being released, and what has yet to emerge.
Her work has been exhibited through Brushes with Cancer (2023–2025) and at the Old City Jewish Art Center (2024–2025). Through an evolving practice that moves between painting and sculptural texture, Lewis-Bahr continues to explore the possibilities of abstraction as a language for experiences that are often difficult to articulate.

STATEMENT
Driven by a curiosity about the inner world and the complexities of the mind, I explore the emotional spaces that emerge through transition, uncertainty, and transformation. Through abstraction, expressive brushwork, layered textures, and restrained palettes, I create atmospheric works that give form to experiences that are often difficult to articulate.
My intuitive practice allows each work to evolve through movement, material, and instinct, creating space for viewers to bring their own emotions and interpretations to the work. At the center of my practice is an exploration of what exists between states of being—what we release, what we confront, and what begins to emerge as we become something new.
